As Creative Director and Head of Editorial for BBC Worldwide Digital Entertainment, I led the creative strategy for a portfolio of interactive products based on some of television's most recognizable global brands, including Doctor Who, Top Gear, Dancing With the Stars and Torchwood.
Doctor Who: Worlds In Time

During my tenure, I directed twelve 4-star mobile titles, several Facebook and browser games, and console titles like Doctor Who: The Eternity Clock. The standout was Top Gear Stunt School, which became the BBC's most-downloaded commercial app at the time of its release.

The job was never just "make an app for a TV show."   Each franchise needed its own creative logic:
Doctor Who needed narrative depth and a sense that you'd become the Doctor's companion;
Top Gear leaned into fast, ridiculous, humor-driven gameplay;
Torchwood released episodic content on the same weekly cadence as the show itself, matching its tone of mystery rather than borrowing its plot.
Getting that distinction right, repeatedly, across a dozen-plus titles, meant building a creative process that could flex per-franchise while still holding a consistent bar for quality and brand fidelity — coordinating closely with producers, developers, and brand stakeholders to keep everything moving from concept to launch.

Building the BBC's Most Downloaded Commercial App
One of our most significant achievements was Top Gear Stunt School.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and external development teams, we created an experience that captured the humor, energy, and personality that made Top Gear one of the BBC's most successful global properties.
The application became the BBC's most-downloaded commercial mobile app at the time of its release, demonstrating how thoughtful creative direction could successfully translate a beloved television brand into an engaging interactive product.
My role at the BBC covered a lot of bases, from brand protector to storyteller, game designer to art director.  Much of my work was collaboration with the excellent vendors we hired to create games and experiences.  But directing those experiences also mean putting in the time to specific, actionable design direction.
